Abstract

This paper analyses the teaching program of the subject ethics in secondary schools and the accompanying textbooks for all four grades of secondary school. Ethics, as a school subject, has the goal of providing orientation for the students and of developing critical thinking. Through argument-based discussion on the subject of ethics, it is expected that students meet those set goals. This paper also presents some objections about the content of the program, most notably the objections about the definition of the subject matter of ethics and about the lack of knowledge which can occur as a result of insufficient theoretical background provided to the students in the first grade of secondary school. The emphasis is also put on the peculiarities connected to ethics in school, where the professors' capabilities are the key to success.
