Abstract

This thesis describes normal speech and language development and how this process is impacted by the mother-child relationship. Speech and language development of each child is individual and is not possible to observe isolated from other development areas; motoric, cognitive, socio-emotional. The entire child development is determined by genetic predispositions and depends on the influence of the environment, prior of the mother, to whom the child acquires affection and spends most of the time. Neuroscience has proven that the early interactions and the way the parents handle the child forms the child’s brain and the characteristics of its future personality. Hence, the first years of life are a critical period for child’s emotional, social, physical and motoric growth and development. To ensure conditions for a healthy and complete child’s development, it is necessary that the parents nurture mutual relationship and the one with the children, in order to make the family atmosphere positive, filled with love, acceptance and understanding. It is also not to ignore the responsibility of the society for the destiny of the child and the family.
