Abstract

This thesis deals with the problems of new technology implementations in higher education institutions. The main idea is to tray to implement existing theory models to predict user reactions when in contact with a newly implemented e-learning system at Faculty of Philosophy in Osijek. Research results support the main hypothesis that the Technology Acceptance Model can be used to predict system use in context of higher education institution and e-learning system as a new technology. Similarly to prior research it is shown that perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use play in creating personal behavioral intention to use the e-learning system. It is also shown that perceived usefulness with new users, influences behavioral intention in a much higher degree than perceived ease of use. With the existing users with prior experience perceived ease of use has no influence. Given results are useful for predictions of future technology use as well as for "adjusting" existing training sessions. Additional results show that prior experience with similar computer use influences behavioral intention thru perceived ease of use with new users. Similar computer use is recognized as using computers in class, an in preparation for class. With existing users quite unexpectedly high causal connection between prior experience of computer use for research and perceived ease of use is found. Existing research data is not sufficient to interpret this finding and it opens several questions for further research.
