Abstract

This graduation work presents the proposal of secondary school student project in the subject Fine Arts, dedicated to the church of St. Catherine in Zagreb. The project is devided in two phases: student independent research and work in the field. The paper focuses on the socio-historical environment in which the construction of the church of St. Catherine started, the typological and stylistic characteristics of its architecture, its paintings and sculptural inventory and the role of Jesuit order in cultural surroundings of Zagreb and Croatia in general. For each of the above units methodical exercises are proposed that comply with requirements of the project and experience – based teaching and as a supplement to the content of the curriculum of Fine Arts. The project encourages independent work of students, and collegiality through exercises intended for a group work or pair work.
