Abstract

In this paper, rhetorics is presented as one of the key competences necessary to be acquired during education. It presents the reasons for the imporance of developing that particular skillset and the problems caused by the lack of a formally structured study of rhetorics in education. Rhetorics classes in Croatia are practiced only in a few grammar schools, mostly private ones. Their curriculae differ in scope and content, and the ones which were publicly available were analyzed for the purposes of this paper, which presents an option for a unified curriculum. The curriculum draft was written and based on the analyses of other Croatian high school curriculae, School of Rhetorics Ivo Škarić, as well as Slovenian and Serbian ones. Orthoepic and argumentative exercises and debate thesis proposed in the paper are also based on the same analyses.
