Abstract

The present study aimed to investigate the relationship between dispositional employability, perceived employability, job search intensity and demographic and job characteristics. The main purpose of study was to: (1) determine predictors of perceived employability and job search intensity; (2) investigate mediation effect of dispositional employability on relationship between perceived employability (job search intensity) and demographic and job characteristics. A survey was conducted among a sample of 327 unemployed persons registered with the Croatian Employment Service. Data was collected by questionnaire that included demographic and job characteristics, Self- perceived individual employability scale, Dispositional measure of employability and job search intensity scale. Age appeared to be the main determinant of perceived employability. The results also showed younger people, people who have lower total monthly income and people whose last workplace was a small organization, will be engaged in a more intense job search. A test of the mediating role of dispositional employability showed no mediation effect.
