Abstract

A summary of the historical development of the concept of artificial intelligence as well as of modern directions in the development of AI; definition of artificial general intelligence (AGI) as an entity with inherent capacities and qualities specific to humans. Elaboration of ethical implications and potential misuses in the field of development of artificial intelligence, concerning both humankind as well as artificially intelligent entities. Analysis of the societal responsibility towards the technology it is based upon as well as towards its end results.
