Abstract

The aim was to examine the effects of acute alcohol intoxication on the choice reaction time. Each participant (N=23) received 4 different dose of alcohol (placebo, 0.3�, 0.5� i 0.8� in the blood). They performed a go/no-go task that required quick responses to go targets and suppression of responses to no-go target. Performance of easier task included dominant hand and performance of complex task included both hands. Analyze indicates that the effect of alcohol had a significant influence on reaction time. Results concerning the simple task showed that there is a significant influence of alcohol between placebo and 0.5� dose and placebo and 0.8� dose. Results showed that there is significant influence of alcohol for the complex task especially for stimulus who were presented in periphery field of vision (between placebo and 0.5� dose, placebo and 0.8�, and 0.3 � dose and 0.8� dose). Alcohol had no influence on the number of errors for both type of tasks. Conclusion: the results indicated that alcohol in general significantly slowed reaction time but did not increase number of errors.
