Abstract
The aim of this research was to determine the contribution of pediatric care utilization circumstance and parental health locus of control in explaining satisfaction with the
child's pediatrician, as well as the contibution of utilization circumstance, parental health locus of control and satisfaction ratings in explaining the tendency to adhere to pediatric care regimens. 785 mothers participated in the research. Child's poor health status, arbitrary pediatrician choice criteria, turning to private care providers and relying on informal sources of health information predicted less satisfaction with pediatrician. On the other hand, poor health status predicted more compliance. Also,mothers who relied more on informal sources of information tended to comply less with medical regimens. Satisfaction, internal and powerful others locus of control were significant predictors of compliance; more satisfied mothers and those with powerful others external orientation tended to comply more, while those with internal health locus of control complied less.
