The economy and society are highly connected and numerous classical and comtemporary authors, such as Marx, Weber or Castells, wrote about it. Today's modern economy is characterized by generation, processing and transmission of information, so we can say that we live in an information society. Information is crucial. One way to raise competitiveness and completly integrate a country into the global economy is to introduce a business intelligence system. This innovation shows us how to use the knowledge in the development process, by collecting, processing and analyzing data and information. This makes it a very powerful tool in the hands of decision makers. While it is undeniable that BI brings prosperity and progress in all spheres of society in developed countries, in developing world the situation is somewhat different. These countries are jammed in transition from absolute poverty to a society of prosperity and are often characterized by high economic growth. We have analyzed several case studies with the aim of detecting the level of development of Business Intelligence in these countries. Although generalizations about this issue are a bit ungrateful, the main results showed that the economies of developing countries have not fully implemented business intelligenceand and only a fraction of companies use this innovation. Complete development of BI in developing countries is obstructed by various structural problems such as corruption, shortage of transparency, lack of political will, poor infrastructure and a general lack of understanding of the importance of information. Possible exits from adverse situations are stronger involvement of the education sector and cooperation with foreign partners from the developed parts of the world.
