Abstract

Since the corporal turn in the humanities and social sciences until today, a huge amount of articles have been written covering the issues of the body. Starting from the importance of the body in social life, as well as in culture, and the significant changes the body has been undergoing during postmodernism, the sociological theorists dealing the studies of the body have significantly contributed to the understanding of this epistemological arena and to the discussions on ontological dilemmas surrounding the body. However, the question remains what kind of changes have been occurring in Cartesian legacy at all, since it seems that, while we are trying to find a unilateral answer to the question – what is the body? – the key problem - what to with the body? – remains unanswered.
