Abstract

This work aims to problematize Mozambican literature, focusing primarily on representations of Mozambican women within the female authorship. With that goal, we are going to analyze works of three Mozambican female authors, Noémia de Sousa, Lília Momplé and Paulina Chiziane, them being representatives of three literary forms, poetry, short story and novel. Chronologically following the appearance of works, we are going to analyze three poems of Noémia de Sousa, a poet that writes in the context of anticolonial revolution in the forties: Negra, Sangue Negro e Moças das Docas; a short story O Sonho de Alima of novelist and short story writer Lília Momplé, as well as a novel Niketche: Uma História de Poligamia 4 of the first Mozambican novelist Paulina Chiziane. Although there are a lot of theoretical perspectives which could be useful for an analysis of this matter, in this work we will primarily use feminist (feminist occidental methodology of feminine writing and feminist African methodologies) and postcolonial methodologies, always bearing in mind the sensitivity and the specific problems which appear when talking about a postcolonial society or literature, not forgetting
