Abstract

Academic libraries collect and provide access to the collections of educational and science content. Their importance lies in the variety of their collections as they make a sort of a bridge between students as users on the one side and members of the university and academic citizens as users on the other side. In this final thesis, the Library of Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of University of Zagreb will be compared with the Library of Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of University of Orléans in France. The purpose of this thesis consists of showing the similarities and possible differences and how much the libraries differ when it comes to the collections, services and users. The history and development of mentioned libraries will be described as well as their printed and digital resources, the type of users and the services of the libraries themselves.
