Abstract

This research paper thematizes a relatively new interdisciplinary practice of using digital technology, not only as a tool in the realization of a project, but as a central piece of the creative process and subsequent presentation. It starts with an overwiev of historical changes in the fields of art and science that led to conditions suitable for eventual interdisciplinary cooperation, while emphasizing certain key points and works crucial for the development of digital art. The paper focuses on themes ubiquitous to interactive works, whether installation or performance, which often includes some form of social or political commentary and an exploration of man-machine relationship, as well as the integration of technology within the surrounding architecture.
