Abstract
The cognitive aspects of language processing constitute inevitable topic of the recent researches. The process of word recognition assume presence of the mental representation on more than one level: phonological, morphological, syntactic and semantic. It is assumed that mental representations are situated in mental lexicon where the difference between lexical and gramatical words are analyzed within the the language processing, as well as rapports between different types of elements of the language: morphemes and words, words and utterence ecc. As a part of the process of word recognition, the errors in processing are considered as a frequent problem: from the meaning errors to the wrong forms of the word, substitutions or anticipations. Today, there is more than one model of word processing. The most known are: Logogen model, Researching model, Cohort model, Interactive Activation Model, LAFS and others. Although there are important differences between theese models, every each of them is based on the process which main function is identification between the inputs and language forms that already exsist in our memory. Thanks to demages of the areas of the brain responsible for language processing it is possible to conclude about steps of the word recognition, or it can confirm or deny ideas of the mentioned models.
