Abstract

This paper investigates problems of the terminology systems and in addition the system of pedagogical scientific terminology. The first part of the paper provides the brief summary of the development of pedagogical scientific paradigms and how they approached the problems of nurture and education, with special focus on the origins of the Croatian pedagogical tradition. On the basis of the theoretical review of education, nurture and akin concepts it will be pointed out that polysemy and sinonimy along with unspecified hierarchical relations complicate apprehension of pedagogical corpus. With the purpose of standardisation of the pedagogical terminology, the second part of the paper analyses and describes extant terms according to the nine terminological principles and brings forward possible solutions for the sinonimy, antonimy and paronimy problems, along with the problems of terminological discrepancies in the standard Croatian. According to the analysed samples, besides the terminological description, the paper proposes a system of definitions and establishes normative relations between terms.
