Abstract

F. Petrarch (1304 – 1374), is an Italian poet, author of the Canzoniere (Rerum vulgarium fragmenta), a collection of love poems which had a great impact on the European Renaissance poetry. Sir Thomas Wyatt (1503 – 1542) is the first English Petrarchan, he introduced the sonnet into English literature. His work is the beginning of the English Renaissance, he influenced numerous English poets such as P. Sidney, E. Spenser, W. Shakespeare etc. I present my translation of Wyatt's sonnet The longe love, that in my thought doeth harbar.
