Abstract

The concept of sovereignty is one of the key concepts of political theory in the legitimation of political power, whose establishment is closely related to the emergence of modern political community, or nation-states incurred on the foundations of the Westphalian peace which is characterized by territoriality, sovereignty, autonomy and legality. The sovereign state authority is supreme, absolute and independent in its political, economic, cultural, military and in any other activities, which means that it is not subordinate to another authority that would restrict it. It is valid for both dimensions of sovereign authority, internal and external policy. According to the international community, independence is threatened in the second half of the 20th century, precisely when the intensification of the relationship between nation states has started in the territories in which the nation-state had unlimited power.
