Abstract

Firewall is a security element located between a local network and a public network that is designed to protect the information from unauthorized users. This paper provides information on the operational principles of firewall technologies that are used to support a firewall, its types and examples of hardware and software versions of the firewall. All of this information leads to explanations of methods of protection and issues of diverse attacks on systems that are protected by firewalls. At the end of the paper, the grading system of these methods in relation to the typesof attacks through firewalls, is set.
