Abstract

Evaluation of quality on the University of Zagreb began in summer of academic year 2005./06. Since then there have been three student evaluations (summer semester 2005./06. and 2006/07; winter semester 2006./07.) and two teacher self - evaluations (academic years 2005./06. and 2006/07.). A total of 223924 evaluation sheets were collected and 5219 teacher - class combinations were evaluated. All in all 494 teachers self - evaluated their work and work conditions. Student evaluations were conducted using pencil and paper while teacher self - evaluations took place on - line. Among other things this paper tries to determine psychometric properties of questionnaire used in student evaluations. Furthermore I try to determine factors that influence the height of student evaluations, many are mentioned in literature, and I am manly interested in those which were observed during student evaluations at the University of Zagreb. One of the problems is also the stability of student evaluations in time, subject prone to debates, which can show as what student evaluation frequency should be. Last but not least I examine the correlation between student evaluations and teacher self - evaluations, this link can provide information as to the usefulness of different perspectives on teaching quality. The questionnaire proved to be psychometrically stable with very good metric characteristics. Observed factors demonstrated influences which can be found in previous papers on the same subjects, interaction effects are interesting though. Each factor explained a total of about 65% of variance.
