Abstract

The aim of this research was to demonstrate the advantages of computer-based testing, such as recording additional data of test speed measurements, to give an insight into connection between person's performance and his or hers characteristics. 127 students paticipated in this research. Different personality, test-taking strategy and test-taking behaviour questionnaires were used as predictors, while the test of cognitive ablilities Test S was used as a criterium. We found correlation between test speed measurements and results in Test S, we also found that simple and complex questions, aswell correctly and incorrectly answered questions should be analysed separately. We performed a series of regression analysis to determine the predictive value of paticipants characteristics for test taking speed. Regression analysis of the average time needed for the first answer on all of the questions (with neuroticism as a significant predictor explaining 5.9% of criterium variance), simple questions answered correctly (with neuroticism, power of inhibiton and impulsivity as significant predictors explaining 20.4% of criterium variance), difficult questions answered incorrectly (with self-report on the result on Test S and general self-confidence as significant predictors explaining 17.5% of criterium variance) and difficult questions answered correctly (with self-report on the result on Test S as a significant predictor explaining 7.4% of criterium variance) were shown to be significant.
