Abstract

This paper had two primary objectives: to define the conceptual framework for measuring the percentage of ''consistent'' Catholics, and to test this framework on a selected sample. The paper is conceptually based on 4 out of 5 Glock-Stark's sub-dimensions of religiosity. The theoretical and conceptual part of the paper consists a brief overview of previous research within each of the four measured sub-dimensions of religiosity, and definition of the term ''consistent'' Catholic. Also, in this section is defined the conceptual framework for measuring the percentage of ''consistent'' Catholics in a given population. The paper also presents the results of research conducted on the basis of the settings defined in the conceptual part of the paper. In addition to the presentation of the results of the research, in this section is also discussed the manner of determinig criteria for distinguishing between ''consistent'' and ''other'' Catholics, and ultimately here are presented the criteria for distinguishing of the two type of Catholics within each of the four measured sub-dimensions of religiosity. On the basis of defined critera the author conludes that no more than 15% of respodents should be described as ''consistent'' Catholics.
