Abstract

The works of Ivan Slamnig on the history of Croatian versification are mainly concerned with specific questions such as verse formation in a given literary period or comparative research into versification. Nonetheless, relying on the theoretical assumptions or developing his own theoretical premises, Slamnig sometimes makes general statements about a corpus of verses or generalises about the relationship between versification in Croatian and in some other national poetry, or else about the possible typology of Croatian versification in comparison to the existing typologies. In this essay some of these insights, which have already been integrated within the Croatian theory of versification, are being analysed.
