Abstract

This thesis analyzes the process of forming a workers' residential colony on the example of the sugar factory in Županja, which started to operate in 1947. The phenomenon called ''workers' residential colony'' emerged gradually in the periphery of Županja, and thus created a specific town within a town. Based on the research conducted by the author in November 2016 and newspapers sources, the construction of the factory, the emergence of the settlement, its everyday life, cultural and social life, growing up, schooling, various events, traditions and many other things that characterized this workers' residential settlement in Županja in the period of socialism are described.
