Abstract

In this paper we will talk about data trading and the world-wide practice of using personal data of citizens for various reasons. Every day people, companies, organizations and whole countryes generate enormous amounts of data, not understanding all that can be done with that much data at hand. Of course, most of that information is used for creating a better enviorment such as creating a better health system, making a better costumer profile to create a better service, adapting the living conditions to people in the way they need it. However what is being generated through this information? Where does that data end up? What happens with the data of a firm when it is bought by another firm? And to what extent do companies and governments respect the citizens wish for privacy? There is a big amount of Big data, and an even bigger amount of unanswered questions about what it is used for. For that reason I will try to show you, through this seminar work, the positive and negative aspects of trading and use of personal information, and what kind of an impact these processes have on our lives.
