Abstract
Today's website visits are growing day by day. A large percentage of people use the Internet to buy, communicate and use various features through it. To make it easier for people to use the websites, cookies have been created. HTTP cookies are small files that Internet browsers store on our computer when accessing websites to allow additional functionality of these pages. Cookies are used to remember the registration or some data for users so they will not have to re-enroll each time they visit the same site. However, the question is how many users actually know what role cookies have, what they are invented for, which data they are taking, what do they use it for, and who has the access to that data. The topic of this paper is the research of cookies on Croatian and other websites based on 3 categories. We will study how many sites explain which data they are taking and why, and on the other hand, their data protection and protection of the user. The research compares Croatian websites for online stores, daily newspapers and faculty web sites with their respective foreign websites.
