Abstract
The topic of this paper was the representation of body in magazines Svijet i Zenski list which were published between the two world wars. The aim of the paper was to show the changes in the representazion of the body, the change of consciousness in women and men and the way magazines represented the relationship towards the body.
„Roaring Twenties“ were a period in which you can notice the most significant gap towards the change of the position of women and their representation, which also continued in the next decade. New fashion, hairstyles, the begining of a new perception of beauty, the attitude towards health, care of the body and a „new woman“ are all the changed which can be seen in the magazines used for this paper. All those changes influenced the attitude towards the body and its representation. The growing cosmetic and film industry as well as models and beauty pagents were main strategies used for transfering this new concept of beauty. It can be observed from the content of the magazines, mainly the representation of the body and language, that new trends were seen as a source of happiness and youthfulness. This kind of approach encouraged change, consideration and imperative of the new perspective of the body which was analyzed in certain chapters of this paper.
