Abstract
This diploma thesis provides a proposal for secondary-school project-based learning with the focus on the students researching the 19th century art movements. The proposed project includes several stages – independent research by students and classroom teaching, followed by teaching outside the classroom and project presentation at the final stage. The emphasis is placed on independent student research of selected topics to enhance various skills, such as understanding and handling information and critical thinking. The students are encouraged to active participation in the teaching process. To this end, project-based learning has been selected as the most appropriate teaching strategy because of the great diversity of teaching methods it includes, responding thus to all modern teaching requirements.
