Abstract
Serbian Orthodox Church of Saint George is a unique architectural monument in Rijeka and one of a very few of its kind in Croatia. Built between two world wars, it has endured through some difficult times and survived two wars. Architect Momir Korunović designed the church in traditional serb-byzantine style, for which he was most famous for. Serbian Orthodox Church of Saint George (built 1938.-1939.) was built in a rather complicated period, when Sušak and Rijeka were two different cities in two different countries – Sušak was a part of Kingdom of Jugoslavija, and Rijeka was a part of Kingdom of Italy. This separation caused the need for a new Orthodox church in Sušak, as the only Orthodox church in the area was located in Rijeka. Building this much needed new church proved to be a difficult task as shown in this work.
