Abstract
Modern organisations renew their technologies regularly, every 3-5 years, but the documents are kept longer, and because of that information systems are required, as well as institutions to manage the data. Every office in the state management and legal entities have a set of rules, which are used to regulate their management, and this set of rules is the Statute of Office Management. The Statute sets rules that ought to be obeyed in the processes within the documentation cycle. Metadata for the management of records is required for the documents to be identified, described, preserved, authentic and reliable, thus being usable, and the norm that describes the metadata for records management is the ISO 23081 norm. Norms make the finding of records easier. The other norms that must be noted are: ISO 15489, which is the most influential norm for the management of documents, MoReq2010 as a specification that goes further than ISO 15489, ISAD(G), ISSAR, ISDF, ISDIAH, Dublin core and Mets.
