Abstract

Although it forms a big part of urban tissue and planning, industrial heritage is frequently neglected. Its future depends a lot on changing the indifferent attitude and negative perception of the public. Marking the industrial heritage with positive foretoken could bring a long term benefit to its preservation and valorisation. Revitalising industrial heritage brings together past and future while imprinting new values on to the existing ones. Properly adapted and revitalized former industrial spaces can grow in to focal points of cultural and artistic production. The purpose of this master thesis is to initiate thinking process about the possibilities of the adaptation of the industrial heritage by presenting its value through showcasing and analyzing the adaptation of House for people and art – Lauba.
