Abstract
Knowledge management in e-Science is a broad term which describes an array of theoretic and practical elements. Technological advancement has influenced the very notion and evolvement of science. Each scientific field has its own postulates and requires a different approach in the context of digital environment. In order for e-Science to function, it is necessary to establish the required scientific information infrastructure, with strict standards and norms for management of various scientific data. Scholarly communication in virtual environment has adopted some new paradigms, while every stakeholder in science has its own interests, what ultimately leads to difficulties in scholarly communication. In order to preserve and access scientific data, digital academic repositories and institutional repositories have been established. An overview of several Croatian and global repositories has been given in the text. Digital repositories strive to continue their functioning on the principles of open science, which is based upon the open access to scientific data. A few globally significant initiatives have been started to achieve the open access.
