Abstract
The paper presents the development of the City of Split and the historical landscape of the Split peninsula in Late Antiquity and Early Middle Ages. The focus is to make a corpus of the sacral architecture of the peninsula and to map the monuments which will provide an art topography of the area. With the corpus and the maps we can reconstruct the development of the sacral architecture of the peninsula within its historical context, and it will enable us to se the changes that happened in the historical landscape. Also, it will make easier to see the relationship of the rural lanscape of Marjan and urban area of Diocletian's palace and its suburbs. The analysis of the historical monuments, the use of scientific literature and the historical documents and the mapping of the aformentioned have been used to make and present the corpus of sacral monuments from Late Antiquity and Early Middle Ages on the Split peninsula.
