Abstract
The question of the relationship between women and leadership is still fundamental in the study of organizations. According to the informative nature of this thesis, with a brief overview of the theoretical background, the results of numerous meta-studies and researches are presented. The results demonstrated importance of studying women’s leadership styles due to its impact on the survival, competitiveness and development of organizations. The barriers found in women’s attempts to reach the desired leadership positions are highlighted. Finally, apart from documenting feminine styles within organizations, it is shown that women are causing change in the concept of “leadership”; outside the framework of traditional masculine concepts. Due to globalization and the growing need for a new leadership style that focuses on an individual employee, there is a need for a transformational style that most effectively achieves the fulfilment of the organization’s goals.
