Abstract
Online trolling is phenomenon which we as users of the internet can come in contact with daily. The general perception of online trolls today is that those are people who often behave in a destructive manner, which has negative effects on individuals as well as entire communities, and that perception is often emphasized by the mainstream media as means of creating moral panic and a spectacle. However, further insight in studies conducted on the subject highlights certain positive aspects trolling can have on communities. The positive aspects can be simpler, as entertainment and a certain “learning” mechanism, to those which draw attention to some more serious questions regarding society. This study focuses on those positive aspects and tries to see trolling as a subculture which can partly serve as a reflection on today’s society.
