Abstract
The goal of this research was to test for sex differences in positive contribution of having meals together to romantic relationship satisfaction and quality. It is hypothesized that satisfaction with meal related communication is a significant predictor, even when contribution of sexual relations satisfaction and other forms of communication are considered. Research was conducted in online form, on participants aged between 18-40, without children and living with a partner for a minimum of one year. Analyses of data were conducted regarding sex differences. Both groups (Nmales=97, Nfemales=97) consider having meals together as an important part of a relationship, with no group difference in the expression of affection through food. Having meals together affects more mood of female than male participants. Model of romantic relationship satisfaction and quality prediction shows significant part of variance explained through meal related communication satisfaction (females – 11%, males – 4%).
