Abstract
The aim of this study was to examine the relation between sleep quality and morningness – eveningness and daily routine in elderly population, with or without controlling for the self-assessed general health status. The total of 98 participants were keeping a 7-day Social Rhythm Metrics diary (SRM II – 5), along with completing a Morningness-Eveningness Questionnaire and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index. The sample was convenient, consisting of participants older than 65 years. The results showed that high daily routine predicted a more conserved sleep quality, with or without controlling for the self-assessed general health status. Morningness also predicted a more conserved sleep quality, but only without controlling for the self-assessed general health status. Finally, the hierarchical multivariate regression analysis established that daily routine and morningness-eveningness combined successfully predicted sleep quality in elderly.
