Abstract
Language plays an extremely important role in human life, covers every aspect of its actions, and affects the process of his identification, whether in a real or fictitious world. The area of film art creates fictitious characters that form their identity, their own attitude, primarily through the language that they speak, and which inevitably creates different stereotypes. The 20th and 21st century Croatian film scene has a big range of television series that show that exact influence of language on human identity, revealing the positive and negative consequences that come from it. „Gruntovčani“, as well as „Naši i Vaši“, are examples of two Croatian drama series which, although recorded in a quite distant past, are dealing with a topic that is easily applicable to the present situation and thus prove their actuality and universality.
