Abstract
In examining the relationship of adult romantic attachment and time perspective participated 294 people between age of 18 and 37 who were at the moment involved in a serious romantic relationship. Adult romantic attachment was enquired using modified version of Brennan’s Inventory of Close Relationships (Kamenov i Jelić, 2003) and time perspective with Zimbardo Time Perspective Inventory (Zimbardo i Boyd, 1999). Results have shown positive relationship between anxiety dimension and past-negative, present-hedonistic and present-fatalistic time perspective. Positive relationship of avoidance dimension with past-negative and present-fatalistic and negative relationship with past-positive was also found. Furthermore, participants that were securely attached in romantic relationships had less negative attitudes toward past and less fatalistic vision of present than insecurely attached participants. Securely and insecurely attached participants did not differ on the results of present-hedonistic, future and past-positive time perspective. Also, the results have shown that male and female participants differ on anxiety dimension and on measures of past-positive and future time perspective. Gender differences in attachment style as in past-negative, present-fatalistic and present-hedonistic were not found.
