Abstract
The aim of this study was investigate whether hospital and family doctors differ in appearance of burnout syndrome (emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, personal accomplishment), problematic assessments of different job aspects (job demands, relations with colleagues, relations with superior, relations with patients, adequacy of salaries), life satisfaction and anxiety. Additionally, our intention was to determine contribution of problematic assessments of different job aspects and anxiety in clarification of burnout syndrome. Burnout was determined using Maslach Burnout Inventory (Maslach and Jackson, 1981) and anxiety using State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (Spielberger 1968). The study included 80 participants, 37 family and 43 hospital doctors. Results have shown that doctors are in categories of high emotional exhaustion, moderate depersonalization and moderate personal accomplishment. Family doctors have significantly higher personal accomplishment. Hospital doctors estimate relations with colleagues, relations with superior and adequacy of salaries as more problematic than family doctors, and they are less satisfied with their life. Emotional exhaustion is best explained with anxiety, relations with superior and adequacy of salaries. Depersonalization is best explained with anxiety, relations with patients and adequacy of salaries, while the only predictor of personal accomplishment in this study was anxiety.
