Abstract
The aim of this study was to examine the relation between body disatisfaction, selfliking, selfcompetence, positive and negative perfectionism, and to examine if there are any seks differences in above mentioned variables. Participantes were 103 adolescent girls and 100 adolescent boys – secondary school students in Varaždin. Instruments used in this study are: Body Shape Questionnaire – BSQ (Cooper, Taylor, Cooper, Fairburn, 1987); Selflikeness and Selfcompetence Scale – SLSC-R (Tafarodi and Swann, 1995); Positive and Negative Perfectionism Scale ( Terry-Short, Owens, Slade i Dewey, 1995). The results have shown statisticaly significant seks differences on dimensions of body disatisfaction and selfliking, where girls obtain significantly higher results in comparison with boys. Also, the variable body disatisfaction is significantly correlated with selfliking, selfcompetence and negative perfectionism. The correlation of body disatisfaction and selfliking as well as negative perfectionism is significantly higher with girls than boys. By multiple regression analysis it is confirmed that by girls the chosen set of predictors explains about 26% of variance of criteria variable, while by boys this set of predictors explaines about 6,7% of total criteria variable variance.
