Abstract

The thesis Poetics of romanticism and national politics in Croatian novelistics until the Bach regime is based on a research made on national images in Croatian novellas published until 1850. The first part of the thesis deals with a historical development of romanticism in Europe. In addition to that, the thesis also deals with its influence in Croatian romantic literature which is closely related with cultural and political movement known as national revival. The second part of the thesis is based on selected research of national images in early novellas written by selected authors. To be more precise, the analysis is done on novels written by Dimitrija Demeter, Dragojla Jarnević, Ivan Kukuljević Sakcinski and Ljudevit Vukotinović.
