Abstract

In the late 70-ies of the past century, globalization processes, restructuration of capitalism and the development of information and communication technology have led to the development of the global information technology, which resulted in the work transformation. In this paper,we approachedthe analysis ofthe transformationof workin developedcountries throughthreeaspects:we analysed thetransformation of the organizationalwork structure, transformation of employment structure bysector of activityand transformationofnon-standardforms of employmentin total employment.Within the transformation of the organizational structure there has been a developing of a networked enterprise as an organizational form of a global information economy, the concept of flexible specialization in which smaller quantities of individual goods are produced for one section of the market, not the mass market along with the growing usage of outsourcing, the business strategy of handing some activities to outside suppliers to save financial resources and time and thus achieve greater competitiveness and efficiency. The transformation of work by the sector of activity is characterized by a trend of service sector expansion, the marginalization of agricultural and the reduction of industrial activities. With the flexibilization of the labour market comes an increase in the share of non-standard forms of employment such as fixed-term employment, part-time work and agency work, and the formation of some new flexible forms of employment. The standard form of employment is still the most common form of employment, but its share is gradually decreasing. Although the trend of expansion of the service sector and flexibility of the labour market is present in all developed countries, there are still some significant differences among their occupational structures and forms of employment. On the one hand, national governments, cultural patterns and institutional state frameworks still have a significant role in influencing economic processes, so their markets are different, while on the other hand, their role gradually decreases and their markets, although different, gradually reduce these differences and share more common features.
