Abstract

This research is an attempt to determine whether the people we find attractive we also find more trustworthy. Besides physical attractiveness we tried to determine whether a person’s gender affected how much we trust that person. Our independent variables were facial attractiveness and gender of the person on a photograph. Our dependent variables were subjects’ estimates of trustworthiness of the person on a photograph. The results indicate that facial attractiveness did not affect the estimates of trustworthiness but the gender of the person on the photograph did affect the estimates of trustworthiness: people trusted men more then women. We found no interaction between facial attractiveness and gender.
