Abstract

This paper examines the subject of domestic violence featuring female domestic violence offenders. The goal of this research is exploring the characteristics of age, violence severity, target of harassment and the frequency of abuse when dealing with a female domestic violence offender. The research will be conducted via content analysis of newspaper articles. The research also covers the general area of female domestic violence, where other major works in the field are examined. The research tries to extrapolate and examine important characteristics of a typical woman domestic violence offender through content analysis of articles where domestic violence stems from a 3 female offender. The comparison between male domestic violence offenders is presented. The study was conducted on 640 articles from the daily newspapers Jutarnji List and Vjesnik, during a four year Croatian recession period (2006-2010). The paper also presents the frequency and severity of female and male domestic violence through the Croatian recession period.
