Abstract
Scientific work on a modern university is almost impossible without use of Information technologies. Research run in year 1999 showed the degree of information technology use at Croatian higher education institutions. The goal of this thesis was to investigate degree of information technology use at University J.J.Strossmayera in Osijeku seven years later and to see the amount and direction of change. The main hypothesis was that the use of information technologies is significantly higher and that the use of information technologies at Universities is directly linked with institutional support. Research was performed with the same instruments and technology which enables direct comparison of results. Results showed, as expected, that use of information technology is significantly higher than at the time of the first survey and that the biggest difference is in the segment of teacher-student interaction. Beside that there is a significant increase of internet use which is understandable because of the rapid growth of internet resources. The most significant result is confirmation of changed values toward information technology. University staff is more "at home" with new technologies, and there is explicit demand for institutional support which by itself supports the main hypothesis. Beside that it also confirms the CITSCAPES model and supports potential future planning.
