Abstract

This paper presents metadata, "data about data", which have been lately a very important issue in for records management, where they need to be defined and understood in terms of functions they perform (identification, understanding, structuring, management). Structuring metadata means the development of metadata schemas. Some of the latest standards for records management are listed and described (MoReq 2010, Dublin Core, METS).
