Abstract
The goal of this research was to examine the relationship of trait conformity with the Five Factor personality traits, under the assumption that if indeed there is a conformity trait, the variations in that trait could be linked to the variations in the Five Factor Model traits. During the 20th psychological summer school, a diverse sample of high-school students, college students and adults (N=594) was tested with a group of questionnaires which included the Big Five Inventory and the Šiber Conformity Scale. Significant bivariate correlations between the Five Factor personality traits and the measured conformity trait were obtained. Agreeableness and Neuroticism were negatively correlated with trait conformity, while Extraversion, Conscientiousness and Openness correlated positively with trait conformity. A subsequent hierarchical regression analysis showed that Extraversion, Agreeableness and Openness were the only significant predictors of trait conformity, as well as the socio-demographic variable of education. All included variables accounted for 17% of the criterion variance.
