Abstract
The paper examines time indicators in speech found in the play Crime and Punishment directed by Zlatko Sviben and performed in the city drama theatre Gavella. The material analysed was the play itself, the theatrical adaptation written also by Zlatko Sviben and translations of novel Crime and Punishment by F. M. Dostoyevsky (I. Velikanović, Z. Crnković). The analysis included formative sound forms, morphology, lexicology, stylization and classic prosody. The results show different dominant time indicators in speech, the moments when they appear most often and which time indicator is the most dominant. At the end, the methodological approach is introduced in order to enable future actors to acquire 19th century speech qualities. The analysis itself can always give them more guidelines when working on a play.
