Abstract
The aim of the research was to study the expressiveness of perfectionism domains in students with regard to gender, faculty and groups of perfectionists. The research was conducted via Internet on 510 undergraduate students of the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Zagreb University. The participants filled out the Almost Perfect Scale and the Perfectionism Questionnaire subscale concerning perfectionism domains. The research included demographic data and the participants’ assessment whether they consider themselves perfectionist, whether perfectionism disturbs them in their everyday functioning, and whether they consider perfectionism a positive or a negative trait. There are no gender differences in the overall assessment of perfectionism in domains of life, but gender differences are significant in individual perfectionism domains: namely, female students are more perfectionist in household work and studying, while male students are more perfectionist in sports. Faculty of Law students show a higher total assessment of perfectionism in domains of life, and in 11 individual domains they show greater perfectionism than the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences students. The assessment of expressiveness and positiveness of perfectionism and the assessment of disturbance by perfectionism in everyday life have shown to be positively correlated with the total assessment of perfectionism in domains of life.
